Four Decades of
Legal Excellence

Accomplished and seasoned legal professional, Amjad is a co-founder and former managing partner of Afridi & Angell, one of the UAE's leading law firms. He represented the firm's international and local clients - including banks, leading multinationals and private equity firms - in corporate, banking and financial transactions in Dubai and abroad, and advised clients on investments across the GCC, US, UK and India.

Amjad built considerable experience advising private equity firms on cross-border acquisitions, private placements, management buy-outs and business sales, with extensive GCC-wide acquisition and divestiture work. Landmark transactions included the sale of a major international fitness franchise in the Middle East; the sale of logistics companies to Australian and South African acquirers; advising a leading UAE bank on acquisition financing for a majority interest in an industrial group; and representing a major regional bank acquiring the retail and SME business of an international banking group.

Beyond his private equity and M&A practice, Amjad acted for several banks and borrowers in major debt restructurings, and was instrumental in launching banking products and services in the UAE. He is a former board member of Lex Mundi, the world's leading network of independent law firms. At Abornstor, he brings that executive judgement to the review of the company's commercial documentation, ensuring the agreements behind client engagements, partnerships and corporate structuring are commercially sound and legally defensible.
